A Bit About Me
Hello. My name is Charlotte, I'm a counsellor and psychotherapist.

Choosing a therapist can feel like a difficult task, especially when starting the process of counselling. You might be asking yourself how will you know who's the right therapist for you? and question how you may base you decision, is it on expertise? qualifications? or perhaps profile picture to who you think you will have the best connection with.

Whether you are experiencing anxiety or depression, trying to navigate a mental health condition such as ADHD or recently noticed you've been having feelings of low self-esteem. Maybe you would like to talk to someone about the family issues you are encountering?

Then this is something I can try to do to help, guide, and support you.

If you're reading my profile, then chances are that either you, or somebody you care about, is going through a really hard time at the moment. And I know that picking up the phone or sending a message to a therapist can feel really overwhelming and scary.

I will listen to you, and I work with you as your ally. I am warm, I am kind, and I want to help. I treat you with respect and dignity. I do not judge. I'm a human being who has seen plenty of life and I know that you are too.
My Approach to Counselling
I am a Person-Centred counsellor. That means I focus on building a genuine working relationship between therapist and client. I put you in full control of our sessions, so that you decide what we talk about, but I'm there to help you find the feelings behind them. If there are any answers to find, then we find them together, as a team.

My work is confidential. I will never share anything you tell me, unless there is an extremely good reason to do so. If you choose to work with me, I will explain the rules of how I work to you clearly, so that you feel like you fully understand them.

No subject is off limits with me. I have a very broad range of experience in four years of practice, working with all sorts of issues from complex trauma and addiction, to anxiety and relationship problems. I can work in both a Person-Centred or solution-focussed approach, and use my experience working in both the charity and private healthcare sectors to find an approach that best suits each individual client.
My Qualifications & Experience
I qualified from London Middlesex University, with a first-class honours degree in Person-Centred Counselling & Psychotherapy. I have been in clinical practice for four years, and now work as the Counselling Director here at the Empathy Project, where I have responsibility for our safeguarding policies and ensuring our team is doing our best to protect our clients.
I have also had a research study published about the training and experiences of trainee counsellors, presenting this at the European Network of Person Centred & Experiential Counsellors.

I have worked with a very wide range of clients and issues, including LGBTQIA+, bipolar disorder, autism, chronic fatigue, depression, anxiety, inequality, illiteracy, dyslexia, suicide, alcohol abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, bereavement and grief.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (Register No. 395033).
