The Empathy Project CIC
A non-profit community mental health service
providing counselling in Southampton and the Isle of Wight
Proud to work alongside

Life can be hard
Talking about it shouldn't have to be
We believe everyone should have the right to access therapy that is right for them. Every person matters. That's why The Empathy Project, a non-profit mental health support service in Southampton and the Isle of Wight, is committed to never having a waiting list, and there's no limit to the number of sessions you can have.

Although we work closely with the NHS and local organisations, unfortunately we do not receive any public funding. Therefore we ask our users to help us keep our lights on by charging a reasonable fee.

We offer everyone a free 20 minute consultation to make sure we're the right service for you. After that, session fees are £65 per 50 minute individual session, or £80 for 60 minute couples & family sessions.
If you're struggling financially, we'll discount individual sessions to £40 through our Community Fund. You can apply for this easily through our referral form.

We aim to process all new referrals within 3 working days

You talk, we listen
Nothing is ever off limits
To us, there's no such thing as an issue that is too difficult or complicated.

Our experienced team work with a wide range of issues, from anxiety and depression, to complex trauma and relationship problems.

We provide counselling to adults, couples, families, children and young people aged 10 or over.

We are a confidential service and all our counsellors are BACP/NCPS qualified.

We make a difference

Our service launched on 1st April 2024, and in our first year we've delivered 1,594 counselling sessions to 480 people. 1 in 3 of our sessions were through our Community Fund.

An amazing 100% of our clients said they felt we ran a safe, ethical and professional service, and 81.3% said they would strongly recommend us.
Real people who really care
Your choice of therapist matters
We are a small, friendly team of counsellors and psychotherapists who are passionate about the work we do.
We are proud to be a lived-experience organisation. That means all of our team have gone through difficult things in life, and have often been on the other side of the fence, too.

We always let our users choose which of our therapists they would like to work with, and you can switch at any time. Our only goal is that you're getting the right help for you.
